Infinitec sponsors the Infinitec Awards
Dinner, honoring individuals and corporations who are distinguished
leaders in promoting access to assistive technology. Past
Infinitec Award winners include U.S. Sen. Robert Dole,
His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, Sears, ABC 7 Chicago, and
The Pathways Awareness Foundation. Proceeds of the event benefit
Infinitec programs.
Infinitec Dinner 2005
United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Chicago (UCP Chicago) hosted its 13th Annual Infinitec Awards Dinner on Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers, 301 E. North Water. Infinitec is UCP Chicago’s assistive technology program that provides state of the art equipment, training and information about assistive technology to adults and children with disabilities.
The Honorable J. Dennis Hastert, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, was presented with the Infinitec National Leadership Award. Mr. Charles H. Shaw of the Shaw Company, last year’s recipient of the Infinitec National Leadership Award, presented the award to Mr. Hastert.
Michael J. Birck, Chairman of Tellabs, Inc. presented the Infinitec Corporate Leadership Award to SBC Illinois. Ms. Carrie J. Hightman, President of SBC Illinois, accepted the award on SBC Illinois’ behalf. Tellabs, Inc. was the recipient of the same award in 2004.
The Masters of Ceremonies for the evening was Dick Johnson of NBC5 and Hosea Sanders of ABC7. The Infinitec Dinner Co-Chairs were Edward Brennan, retired Chairman, President and CEO of Sears, Roebuck and Co.; Frank M. Clark, President of ComEd an Exelon Company; and J. David Pepper, Chairman and CEO of Pepper Construction Company.

Dick Johnson of NBC5 and Roz Varon & Hosea Sanders of ABC7 served as hosts of the 12th Annual Infinitec Awards Dinner at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers.
During the Infinitec Awards Dinner, the Women's Board of UCP announced the recipient of their 1st Annual Technology Scholarship, Lizbeth Lopez.
Roz Varon, ABC7 Chicago, plants a kiss on the
cheek of Chris Lenart, a special guest at the Ninth Annual
Infinitec Awards Dinner. Mr. Lenart, a consumer of Infinitec
West services, works as a computer programmer.
Sue Ling Gin, winner of the 2001 Infinitec
National Leadership Award, speaks inspiringly of her belief
that family, career, and community service can be seamlessly
integrated into a successful and fulfilling life.
Bruce Disbrow, President and CEO of DonTech,
accepts the Infinitec Corporate Leadership Award from Robin
Tryloff of Sara Lee, the previous award-winning corporation.
Christine Webster offered the invocation at
the Ninth Annual Infinitec Awards Dinner though her communication
device, a special-purpose computer programmed to voice the
thoughts of people with impaired speech.
John Edwardson, President and CEO of CDW Computer
Centers, accepts congratulations from dinner MCs Roz Varon
and Dick Johnson for his chairmanship of the Ninth Annual
Infinitec Awards Dinner, which set a fund-raising record for
the event.

Infinitec North to Honor Local Students’ Achievement
United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago’s (UCP Chicago) assistive technology program,
Infinitec, is honoring students from the north suburbs for their spectacular achievement in
using assistive technology in school. These students all dramatically increase their
independence through using technology ranging from special software to adapted
wheelchairs and even to augmentative communication devices- machines that speak for the
student.
